Project Artifact: Transition to Operations Checklist
Document Reference: PMO-07.04
This document provides a comprehensive, professional reference to understand the purpose and effective usage of the Transition to Operations Checklist in alignment with the Tasleemat framework.
1. What?
A single structured checklist table detailing operational transition items. For every deliverable, system asset, support runbook, and warranty agreement, it records the handover item description, the responsible receiving party, the operational acceptance criteria, the target handover date, and the formal sign-off status.
2. Why?
Because successful projects frequently stumble after launch when operations teams are unprepared to maintain new systems. A transition checklist ensures that operational documentation, admin privileges, escalation procedures, and support agreements are formally verified before the project team disbands.
3. When?
Initiated during the closing phase (or during phased delivery cutovers), maintained throughout the hypercare and transition window, and finalized upon obtaining formal operational acceptance prior to project closeout.
4. Who?
Jointly executed by the Project Manager and the receiving Operations / Service Owner, with verification by the Client Representative. All three sign off to confirm that operational readiness requirements have been fully satisfied.
Tailoring Tips
- Involve operations early. Engage operational stakeholders during testing and dry runs, not only at final handover.
- Verify documentation and access. Ensure runbooks, user manuals, administrative credentials, and licensing agreements are verified and archived.
- Establish warranty and escalation paths. Clarify the warranty support window and transition from hypercare to standard tier-1/tier-2 support.
- Sign off each item individually. Avoid blanket acceptances that obscure unfulfilled operational prerequisites.
