This document provides a comprehensive, professional reference to understand the purpose and effective usage of the Quality Management Plan in alignment with the Tasleemat framework.
1. What?
A governance artifact establishing QA/QC processes, defect thresholds, quality roles, and review gates.
2. Why?
Ensures project deliverables meet customer standards, minimizes rework costs, and verifies regulatory compliance.
3. When?
Established during planning and executed continuously throughout execution, testing, and controlling.
4. Who?
Authored by Quality Lead and Project Manager, approved by Project Sponsor and PMO.
Tailoring Tips
- Incorporate automated CI/CD testing pipelines and acceptance test-driven development (ATDD) for agile software.
- Enforce formal independent laboratory testing and material certifications for physical engineering assets.
Alignment & Dependencies
1. Pre-requisites & Inputs (Upstream Dependencies)
- Mandatory:
- Project Scope Statement (PMO-04.02.05)
- Requirements Documentation (PMO-04.02.03)
- Optional / Contextual:
- Tailoring Plan (PMO-02.01)
- AI Governance Plan (PMO-02.02)
2. Downstream Dependents
- Mandatory:
- Quality Audit Report (PMO-05.05)
- Product Acceptance Form (PMO-06.08)
- User Acceptance Testing Signoff (PMO-06.10)
- Optional / Contextual:
- Definition of Ready and Done Standard (PMO-04.05.03)
- Vendor Performance Scorecard (PMO-06.09)
5. How?
To accurately and professionally complete the Quality Management Plan, the responsible party
must populate the following critical sections based on the project context (ensure parameters.md is referenced for global project variables):
- Organizational Quality Policy and Framework: The overarching corporate quality principles and methodology (e.g., ISO, Lean Six Sigma, CMMI).
- Applicable Industry Quality Standards: Specific external regulatory, engineering, or legal quality standards enforced.
- Project Quality Goals and Thresholds: Measurable quality targets regarding defect containment, test coverage, and customer satisfaction.
- Continuous Improvement Objectives: Process enhancement goals and lessons learned integration mechanisms.
- Quality Assurance (QA) Process: Audits and process compliance activities ensuring project execution adheres to approved standards.
- Quality Control (QC) Testing Protocol: Inspection, automated testing, and peer review workflows used to verify deliverable quality.
- Non-Conformance and Defect Management: Standard procedure for logging, prioritizing, resolving, and verifying non-conformance issues.
- Quality Roles and Responsibilities: Designated quality assurance leads, test engineers, and peer review inspectors.
- Quality Review Gates and Sign-off Criteria: Mandatory quality milestones and gate reviews required before client acceptance.
